Here is the press release about sweetcoconuts blog:

"The unfortunate event of January 12, 2010 in Haiti has brought a lot of non-Haitian Creole speakers to the island.  This earthquake has killed thousands.  It has ravaged many lives… The lives that you are helping now.
Living in Haiti is not without obstacles.  There's no electricity.  There's no clean water.  A good hotel is hard to find.  Transportation is chaotic.  And you do not speak or understand the language.
If you are traveling as reporter, volunteer, or relief worker in Haiti, understand the language might just make things a bit easier.  It'll help you to communicate with the people.  You'll find that you'll get around well when you know the language.
Here, Mandaly Louis-Charles at http://sweetcoconuts.blogspot.com is doing her part helping you to know the language, understand it and speak it.
This course is about basic and urgent communication.  She tried her best to teach you the word sound.  This is a spoken language.  You will have difficulty with the pronunciations unless you master the vowel and consonant sounds.
This course is taught online.  Mandaly is available by e-mail if you need any help.  Take as long as you need.  Study hard and start speaking.
This is an ongoing class.  Mandaly is constantly revising the materials in there.  Let her know if you're having any trouble.
Mandaly is hoping to speak Haitian Creole with you one day!

Haitians Are Dying due to the Cholera Epidemic

Various news reports continue to provide updates on the serious situation in Haiti.  More cases are being encountered on a daily basis.  Those who were affected in the Artibonite region are leaving to seek healthcare in the Port-au-Prince hospitals.  That will cause more problems as they can spread the disease to others.  Experts are sending messages to the phone numbers of those who left and asking them to use some basic hygiene rules to avoid any infection.  International organizations that have been mobilized in the country since the quake have been helping the populations with clean water and other health care needs.
